Creating art isn’t about crafting an image for others to admire or shaping how you want the world to see you. In fact, it’s the opposite. Producing art is about stepping into a space of vulnerability—a space where you uncover truths about yourself that you may not have realized were there.

When I step into the studio, I’m not thinking about how my work will be perceived. The process isn’t about validation or approval; it’s about exploring my own thoughts, emotions, and perspectives. The act of creating is raw and revealing, and in that honesty, there’s a power that connects with others.

Sharing the results of this process—the colours, the strokes, the imperfections—isn’t about showing off. It’s about saying, “This is what I’ve discovered. Do you see a piece of yourself in this too?”

Art is a conversation. But for that conversation to mean something, it has to start with you—your authentic, unfiltered self.

So, if you’re creating, don’t focus on how you’ll be seen. Focus on what you’re willing to uncover and share. That’s where the real beauty of art lies.
